Central Coast Mariners prodigy Alou Kuol will leave the A-League at the end of the season to join German top-flight club VfB Stuttgart.

The teenage sensation, who has scored seven goals this season, has signed a four-year deal with the Bundesliga outfit.

“I am very happy and pleased that I have the opportunity to become a VfB Stuttgart player,” 19-year-old striker Kuol said.

“VfB is a great club that I want to take my next step with.

“I will give everything and work hard to repay the trust of those responsible with my performance and to develop myself as a player.”

VfB Stuttgart sports director Sven Mislintat said: “Alou Kuol drew attention to himself as one of the top rookies in the Australian A-League and impressed us with his personality and ambition in personal conversations.

“We will introduce him to the challenges of European professional football in the transition area from our U21s and the licensed team, and we are very pleased that Alou has chosen VfB and that he trusts us to want to follow the path shown him together with us.”

Mariners head of football Ken Schembri said the Gosford-based club was “very proud” of Kuol, who was part of the Central Coast’s academy before getting his A-League chance.

“We believe that we have a number of youngsters coming through our academy pipeline now who are capable of achieving great things in the future,” Schembri said.

“On top of this we continue to scout the country for the best young talent available.”

Kuol will continue his A-League campaign on Saturday when the Mariners meet Western United in Tasmania.
