ARSENAL CONTACT MADRID
Arsenal have got in contact with Real Madrid about signing Norwegian wonderkid Martin Odegaard.
The 22-year-old was tipped to be the best player in the world when he signed for Real Madrid as a 16-year-old, but his development stunted and he spent time out on loan before impressing in LaLiga last season with Real Sociedad.
Real brought him back to start this season but he’s only played 12 times and is seemingly on the verge of yet another loan deal.
However, they face competition from at least one other unnamed Premier League club, while Seville are also in the hunt for a loan deal until the end of the season.
LAMPARD’S SACK REPRIEVE
Frank Lampard is under increasing pressure to turn around results at Chelsea as soon as possible or face the sack after a run of five losses in their last eight games.
The Chelsea legend spent more than £200m during the last transfer window but none of his signings have hit the ground running, leaving the Blues languishing 11 points off the top spot already.
However, according to The Independent, Chelsea would prefer not to appoint an interim manager mid-season, potentially giving Lampard a stay of execution to try and turn result around before the end of the season.
The report claims that the club are wary of his status as a club icon and want to give him a fair chance as part of a long-term view.
They are aware they will be forced to act if the current trend of results continue but would prefer to replace Lampard when there is an outstanding candidate to replace him.
UNITED’S FALLEN STAR WANTED BY RIVALS
Out of favour Jesse Lingard is looking for an exit route out of Old Trafford having fallen down the pecking order at the club, and he is not short of options according to talkSPORT.
His agent is currently shopping him around Europe and at home looking for a new club having not played in the Premier League yet this season and with the Euros on the horizon he wants to get back in the England squad.
And talkSPORT claims Tottenham, West Ham and Sheffield United are all considering a move for him in the January window.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is wary to lose him in the middle of the season but Jose Mourinho and David Moyes are both fans of Lingard having worked with him at Manchester United in the past.
United just triggered the final year extension in his contract to stop him from leaving for free at the end of the season, but are expected to still be looking to sell him before then.
