It’s over!

At 8am this morning, the deadline officially passed after one of the most ridiculous transfer windows in recent memory, including an incredible final day with two massive moves going through after the deadline.

Antoine Grezmann returned to Atletico Madrid, while Saul Niguez moved to Chelsea and Cristiano Ronaldo was pictured in a Manchester United jersey for the first time since 2009.

Here’s everything that went down in a chaotic final 24 hours.

UPDATES (deadline 8am AEST)

9.22am — Antoine Griezmann back to Atletico Madrid is done! LaLiga has confirmed it has received all of the necessary paperwork and the deal will go through. Barcelona are brining in former Newcastle forward Luuk De Jong as his replacement from Sevilla.

8.46am — Saul Niguez to Chelsea is a DONE DEAL! They waited until after the deadline to announce it but the Blues’ incredible squad has just got even stronger.

8.11am — Dramatic reports emerging now that Antoine Griezmann’s move back to Atletico Madrid has collapsed after Saul Niguez’s loan to Chelsea hit a snag. Clubs have two more hours to lodge the paperwork so it could still happen. Watch this space!

8.00am — TRANSFER WINDOW CLOSED! There are still a few deal yet to trickle through, such as Chelsea’s move for Saul Niguez and Antoine Griezmann’s return to Atletico Madrid, however.

7.59am — Salomon Rondon to Everton confirmed! The striker joins on a two-year deal with an option of a third.

7.39am — Tottenham come to an agreement withSerge Aurier to terminate his contract with the club after a buyer was not found during the transfer window. It will make him a free agent and he will have more time to sign with another club past today’s deadline.

7.31am — And Arsenal will replace Bellerin with Bologna defender Takehiro Tomiyasu for around £17m after the club confirmed the move for the Japanese star.

7.23am — Wolves rejected a £30m deadline day bid from Tottenham for Adama Traore according to The Athletic’s David Ornstein. They didn’t return with an improved bid after Wolves wanted £50m for the player, whose contract expires in 2023.

7.03am — Arsenal defender Hector Bellerin has joined LaLiga side Real Betis on loan for the rest of the season after completing his medical.

6.55am — Chelsea’s move for Sevilla defender Jules Kounde is officially OFF. The Blues had been chasing him all summer but the two clubs couldn’t come to an agreement.

6.48am — Former Newcastle striker Salomon Rondon will sign for Everton from Chinese side Dilian Yifang on a free transfer.

6.28am — One in, one out at Celtic, as striker Odsonne Edouard has signed his five-year deal with Crystal Palace and completed his move to the Premier League.

6.18am — Antoine Griezmann will return to Atletico Madrid on loan with an option to buy for €40m, two years after paying €120m to sign him in the first place.

6.11am — Real Madrid have made a last-ditch attempt to sign Kylian Mbappe, according to The Independent. Los Blancos have tabled a €200m bid for the player which they can sign for free in four months.

5.51am — Celtic have completed the loan signing of Portuguese winger Jota (not that one) from Benfica. Ange Postecoglou has bolstered his attacking line and will have the option to buy him at the end of the season for £6m. He said it was Ange-Ball which tempted him to move. He said: “I’ve seen some of the games and Celtic play very dynamic football where everyone knows what to do, which is amazing. It’s a very attacking style of play and I like that, that’s the most important thing for a team, to build up, get strong and to win important games in the future.”

5.37am — West Ham confirmed it has signed Spartak Moscow midfielder Alex Kral on a loan deal with an option to buy.

5.09am Sheffield United signed Morgan GibbsWhite on loan from Wolves until the end of the season. The deal does not include an option to buy.

5.06am Bournemouth confirmed the signing of Celtic’s Ryan Christie, beating out Burnley for his signature.

4.41am Manchester City midfielder Tommy Doyle has joined Hamburg on a season-long loan deal.

4.41am Sky Sports reports Tottenham has “gone quiet” on Adama Traore with Wolves standing firm on their £50 million ($A94m) asking price.

4.32am QPR announce loan deal with Watford for Andre Greay until the end of the season.

4.11am Wolves were in talks to sign Cardiff striker Kieffer Moore and Marseille midfielder Boubacar Kamara. Both those negotiations were later called off with Wolves unwilling to pay the asking price.

3.42am — Ethan Ampadu signed a new three-year contract with Chelsea but has been loaned out to Venezia on loan for the 2021-22 season.

3.40am —Ainsley MaitlandNiles will be staying put at Arsenal despite the disgruntled star appearing to push for a move in an Instagram post. Instead, Sky Sports reports Arsenal and Maitland-Niles will “hold clear-the-air talks” to address his concerns.

3.31am — Tottenham confirm the signing of Barcelona defender Emerson Royal. Arsenal were also keen on Emerson but his preference was Spurs, with Barcelona claiming the fee is £21.5 million ($A40m).

3.26am —Chelsea agreed to a deal to sign Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez on loan. The Blues will pay €4 million ($A6m) loan fee and will have €35 million ($A65m) option to buy.

3.16am Real Madrid has dropped out of negotiations to sign PSG forward Kylian Mbappe. A £189million ($A356m) offer was tabled. Sky Sports News’ Kaveh Solhekol reported Real Madrid were “willing to pay” €220million ($A355m) today but that PSG “stalled”. Real Madrid then walked away and now will sign Mbappe on a pre-contract agreement in January. PSG could have taken the $A355m deal but failed to co-operate.

3.11am Celtic signed striker Giorgos Giakoumakis from Duth VVVVenlo on a five-year deal, pending international clearance. It is their 10th signing of the summer transfer window.

3.01am —Ademola Lookman has finalised a season-long loan move from RB Leipzig to Leicester City.

3.00am —Rhys Williams has signed a new five-year deal with Liverpool before joining Swansea on a season-long loan.

2.26am — Barcelona and RB Leipzig come to an agreement on the transfer of Ilaix Moriba for €16million ($A25m), plus €6m ($A10m) in add-ons.

2.00amLeicester midfielder Dennis Praet has finalised his loan move to Torino until the end of the season.

1.38am — Arsenal confirmed winger Reiss Nelson will make a season-long loan move to Feyenoord.

1.16am — Leeds confirmed the signings of Manchester United’s Daniel James, who has signed a five-year contract which runs until the summer of 2026.

12.20am —Aston Villa defender Dominic Revan joined Northampton Town on a loan until January.

11.50pm —Exeter confirmed the signing of Kyle Taylor from Bournemouth, who joins on free transfer until 2024.

10.37pm — Dundee swoop on Celtic’s Leigh Griffiths, who rejoins the team on a loan. Fellow Celtic right-back Lee O’Connor later joined Tranmere Rovers on a season-long loan.

10.32pm — Swansea defender Connor Roberts has signed with Premier League rivals Burnley.

10.20pm — And the exodus at Arsenal continues. Now it’s goalkeeper Alex Runarsson who’s reportedly set to be sent out on loan to Belgian club OH Leuven. The writing has been on the wall since the club signed Aaron Ramsdale.

8.30pm — Brighton have signed Marc Cucurella from Getafe for an undisclosed fee.

8pm — Wantaway Arsenal fullback Hector Bellerin will undergo a medical in Seville as he prepares to join Real Betis. The clubs have reportedly agreed to only loan the 26-year-old. Meanwhile, heading the other way is set to be Takehiro Tomiyasu, who has agreed personal terms. Bologna set to receive €20m (A$32m) plus €3m (A$5m) in add ons. His signing comes after Ainsley Maintland-Niles was banished from first team training for publicly airing his dirty laundry. He’s trying to force through a move to Everton and posted on Instagram: “All I want to do is go where I’m wanted & where I’m going to play @Arsenal.”

7pm —Spurs haven’t given up on their pursuit of Wolves star Adama Traore. Wolves want to hold onto the rapid winder and Sky Sports reports that the club will only entertain offer over £50m.

6.30pm — Manchester United has finally confirmed that Cristiano Ronaldo has signed a two-year contract back at Old Trafford. He completes his blockbuster move from Juventus, returning to the club where it all began for him at the age of 36.

“Manchester United is a club that has always had a special place in my heart, and I have been overwhelmed by all the messages I have received since the announcement on Friday,” Ronaldo said.

“I cannot wait to play at Old Trafford in front of a full stadium and see all the fans again.

“I’m looking forward to joining up with the team after the international games, and I hope we have a very successful season ahead.”

Juventus and United agreed a deal worth up to £20m (A$38m) after add-ons.

6pm — West Ham have announced the signing of Nikola Vlasic on a five-year deal from CSKA Moscow.

5.30pm — Juventus has finally confirmed Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure to Manchester United. He will be unveiled on deadline day after clubs agreed to a fee worth up to £20m (A$38m) after add-ons.

“Today, after three years together and 133 appearances, 101 goals scored and five trophies won, that chapter has come to an end…. The paths of CR7 and Juventus have gone their separate ways,” the club said in a statement.

5.30pm —West Ham have still had no luck in pulling Jesse Lingard south from Manchester United on a permanent deal. Sky Sports reports that United would be happy to keep him and that a contract exntension is not off the cards should a late deal with the Hammers not materialise.

5pm — As expected, Leeds United have agreed a £25m fee with Manchester United for Daniel James. The winger will complete his medical on deadline day before joining Wales for their international friendlies.

4pm —Sky Sports reports that Paris Saint-Germain has no chance of convincing Kylian Mbappe to sign a new contract. The publication reports that he’s once again refused to sign a new contract, but will remain professional until his contract runs out at the end of the season. Mbappe reportedly plans to sign a precontract agreement with Real Madrid in January and intends to reject interest from other clubs, although Madrid haven’t entirely given up hope on signing him this window. PSG had failed to respond to a €180m bid (A$290m) and could lose him for free if they don’t make a deal now.

3.30pm — Spurs have reportedly agreed a fee of £25.7m (A$48.4m) for Emerson Royal from Barcelona. The Guardian reports that Nuno Espirito Santo has snapped up the 22-year-old right back as he looks to strengthen his defence. Royal has four caps for Brazil.
